2020 Reunion Cancelled

A Personal Letter from Peg – Anna’s granddaughter

Dear Larson Kin – Friends and Family Forever!

It’s a time for reflection and time to find comfort and support with family and friends.  I can imagine how the challenges of the days are upon each one of us.

Can you imagine….if this pandemic had happened in 2018?

Looking back on the years of planning with cousins, with contracts for site and food, with excitement building for our Centennial gathering, I now realize, even more, how fortunate and blessed we were for such a beautiful day in such a beautiful pavilion, with companionship, good food, good music, and love.  A memorable high point in our lives!

I’m writing to confirm that the 2020 Larson Family Reunion will not take place.  I have checked with several people and all fully agree to the cancellation.  I recall the last family reunion cancellation due to the polio epidemic and I honestly believe this pandemic challenges us more.

With newer opportunities for video-chats, it may be time to try the option of digital chats with your family groups.   So many people are using Zoom meetings to see each other to share news and support.  If you want to chat longer than the free 40 minutes, you’ll have to join for $15.00 a month. It’s really pretty easy.

I’ve been using FreeConferenceCall.com, which is open to any number in a group, and allows for a day-long chat! It’s very similar to Zoom.   Now Facebook and Google have come out with new video-conferencing as well.

Our Larson family has had two Facebook pages and I just deleted one to avoid confusion.  I deleted the public page named C.W.LarsonReunion.  Now search for the Private Facebook Group:  CWandJCLarsonReunion.  (You see how important I thought Johanna Christina was.  Let’s remember her name.) We have 77 members in the group and would welcome more to join.  Just ask and I’ll look for your name on our Larson Family Tree to let you in.  I’ve deleted some of the posts back to 2017, so it’s time to update with photos of your family activities!

Others in the public can see private group postings, but they won’t be able to post or share unless they have joined. (I think that’s true but sites do change.) Also, a little warning from this administrator – posts of a political or religious nature will disappear.   I hope you understand.

If you have questions, comments, or photos you’d like for me to post or share on this website, I’m available at pegisaksoncolorado@gmail.com.

I close wishing you safety, health, and able to find moments of joy in your days!

With Love and Faith in Larson Kin and Stora Kramar,

Peg.         p.s. You know how to do it!

96th Annual C. W. Larson

Will be held August 10, 2014 at the Firemen’s Park in Wataga, IL. (Located at the end of Willard Street)

The potluck dinner will begin at 1:00 pm. The committee will furnish barbecue sandwiches, coffee, iced tea and lemonade and ice cream for dessert. Please bring a dish to pass and your own table service. If you like to play Bingo, come early and have some fun.

We will again hold an auction to raise money for expenses and in 4 years we will have been meeting for 100 years for a picnic. If we can raise some extra money each year we can have an extraordinary 100th reunion! It is a rare thing for a family our size to hold a reunion for that many years.

Please bring something for the auction. It could be baked goods, crafts, knick-knacks, white elephant items or anything you think would sell. These auctions not only raise money but also generate some laughs and good natured entertainment.

Lets keep our reunion going. Encourage the younger generations to attend!
