2018 – The 100th Centennial Larson Reunion was held July 29th, 2018 at Lake Storey Pavilion, Galesburg, Illinois. It was a joyous celebration with approximately 165 attendees on a beautiful summer day.

Check the Reunion and Musical Memories page of this website for photos and info from the 2018 reunion.

An annual Larson Family Reunion and potluck began in 1917.

It was cancelled only one year – 1949 – due to the polio scare.

How we’ve kept in touch over the years:

In the early years the telephone on the wall was the main mode of communication, or by sending postcards, even with a penny stamp!  Beautiful postcards are collected with friendly family messages and are now found in antique stores.  A reminder of the Larson Family Reunion was mailed out each summer, most often beautifully crafted by Russell Larson, the secretary.  How I wish I had kept each one!  Does anyone have them?

Autograph books were carried by young people during the 1940’s, where friends and relatives would enter their name and contact information, as well as leave a jingle to be remembered by.  Your editor has some charming, silly, creative jingles in both Swedish and English that were probably written in the 30’s and 40’s.

Many families went for Sunday drives and would stop in, unannounced, to visit cousins.  Kitchens would have some fruit, cheese, or even a cake, just in case a cousin stopped by.

Communication about family gatherings has changed significantly from 1917.  We now have a website, an E-newsletter sent out via emails, a Facebook page, a private Facebook group, and postal addresses for about 150 homes.  Are you in?? Do we have your postal and/or email addresses?  (But we don’t stop for coffee unannounced!)

Our website:  www.cwlarsonfamily.com is open for anyone to read about our family, to see our pictures, and to learn about reunions.

The E-newsletter is compiled through a software program called Mail Chimp.  To be included in this emailing, please send your email address to cwlarsonfamily@gmail.com.

An open Facebook page is named C.W.LarsonReunion.  Anyone can post pictures and information on this page.  It can be seen by your Friends or by the Public, as chosen.

A private Facebook group is named CWandJCLarsonreunion.  You can ask to be included in the private group and will be accepted after we find your name on the digital Larson Family Tree.  Invitational information will be shared on this private group.  Only members of the group can post pictures and information.  So far we have 95 members.   It’s fun to get acquainted!!  Send your request to join to cwlarsonfamily@gmail.com.

You’ll notice that the name of Johanna has been added to many of our titles.  This was a decision made in 2017 by your editor. Chances are C W would not have come to America without the influence of Johanna and her brothers with the name Svensson, which they changed to Faline, Falline, Faleen (maybe more variations) when they came in the late 1800s.  They were a great support to C W, Johanna and the family.

Make sure we have your current postal addresses and emails and we’ll do our best to be accurate and inclusive!!  Help us spread the word to ALL LARSON KIN!

Send your name and contact information to cwlarsonfamily@gmail.com  or call Peg (Anna’s granddaughter). Leave your name and phone number for a return call.   Peg Isakson  970-227-7127.

Your editor, Peg

Tack, Tack! Tack Så Mycket!!
